PKA Grading System

Red belt

The 1st step in your Martial Arts Journey. You must have a general understanding in basic stances, guard, punches and kicks.

yellow belt

To achieve this grade you need to have improved on your previous testing and have a bit more understanding of body movement and footwork.

orange

At this level which we refer to as the last of the beginner grades, you need to be still showing improved skills along with more techniques in your arsenal and defensive skills such as parrying, slipping, bobbing and weaving and blocking.

green

Half way through your journey and the first of the intermediate grades.  We expect proficiency in a variety techniques and for them to be delivered in a fluid manner.

blue

This is where we like to see Speed and Power in all techniques, and the ability to perform a multitude of spinning and jumping techniques.

purple

This grade, the last of the intermediate belts we require a full rounded Martial Arts knowledge, great fitness and flexibility and the skills to pass on there knowledge to a lesser grade.

brown

You have now made it to an advanced level and are one step away from that illustrious Black Belt.  At this level not only do we want to see ninja like skills and reactions but also the ability to deliver a warm up, stretching routine as well as a punch and kick combination to a beginner or intermediate group of students.

Congratulations you have joined the Elite club of Awesomeness.  This is we really encourage you to develop your skills in our special Black Belt Sessions and to push onto higher Dan grades as well as guide you into coaching to assist the next generation of Martial Artists.
